Cross Country Team Wins Hudson Valley Athletic League Championship

Congratulations to the Oakwood Cross Country team on their 2022 Hudson Valley Athletic League (HVAL) Championship Race! All of the team ran exceptional races, improving times anywhere from 30 seconds to five minutes this year. In a strong run, the boys team took home an upset win for a first place in in the HVAL race this year!
Running on a challenging Darrow School XC course against 8 other schools, the boys and girls teams brought a strong effort. Top finishers for the girls team had Simone ’25, in 8th place. And for the boys, Owen ’25 in 15th, Oscar ’25 in 13th, and Henry ’27 in 2nd place overall.
The boys team ran strong and in a pack, edging out the seven time league champs Storm King this year. Every runner counted in this one, with a final score of 70 for Oakwood to Storm King’s 71. (Low score wins). Well done Oakwood runners – league Champs!
This was a great season and a wonderful accomplishment for every member of the team this year. XC is a beautiful meeting of personal focus and challenge, mixed with team comradery and support. Every single member of the team improved this year. They challenged themselves, pushed themselves to achieve, and accomplished a great deal.
We’re so proud of every runner and can’t wait to see where this young team runs to next year!
