Julie Okoniewski

 

Prior to her work in the Development Department, Julie served as Oakwood’s Coordinator of Community Outreach, taught courses in leadership and political advocacy, and was a dorm parent and swim coach. After working on Captiol Hill as the Legislative Director for Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, she also founded VOTE (Voices of Tomorrow Empowered), a free residential summer program held on Oakwood’s campus for economically disadvantaged Hudson Valley and New York City youth to learn about civic engagement through the arts. An Oakwood parent herself (Sam ’28), Julie brings over 20 years of non-profit fundraising and community building experience to her role.
